Forming Connections in India

So far in 2024, WES has provided nearly 77,000 credential evaluations for Indian applicants so they can embark on new academic and professional paths in the United States or Canada. This past summer, several members of the WES team traveled to India to connect with institutions and prospective applicants. These visits allow us to see key partners in person and gain valuable insights directly from those we work with and serve. Browse the gallery to view some highlights.

Guided by our commitment to participatory grantmaking and trust-based philanthropy, we reflect on the successes and lessons we've learned.

Enhancing Digital Verification of Academic Records from India

WES and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) have established a partnership to streamline the verification and transfer of digital academic credentials from Indian education institutions and other academic and regulatory boards to WES.

WES Marks 50 Years of Impact with WES Values Awards and Higher Education Scholarships for Refugees

WES celebrated its 50th anniversary by honoring individuals and organizations that have made a significant impact in advancing educational, economic, and social inclusion for international students, immigrants, and refugees. The WES Values Awards recognized Syed Hussan, Executive Director of the Migrant Workers Alliance for Change, Canada, and Dr. Diya Abdo, founder of Every Campus A Refuge (ECAR), United States. WES also announced the launch of higher education scholarships for refugees, awarded to Community Sponsorship Hub, which supports the U.S. Welcome Corps on Campus; World University Service of Canada; and Southern New Hampshire University. WES will contribute a total of nearly $400,000 and the scholarship is expected to fund at least 20 students seeking to study in the U.S. and Canada.
